organizations . They share information challenges, ideas and
experience. They make friends, work together and make close
relationship with each other to help one another . International
friendship committee organises many activities for our young people to
participate which include Discussions, Competitions, and field trips.
Friendship through these activities if shared is an experience between
National and international friends. It also helps young people to
expose their ability to other cultures.
4 International Voluntary Services
International Voluntary services (IVS) are projects involving
international volunteers getting linked to the Uganda Community
projects.
Young people take part in short term exchanges organised Mentor
Volunteers and its partners .These activities include work camps. A
work camp is a 1- 3 weeks volunteer project. Its a free labour young
people provide to a given community, Otherwise its a cost if it is done
out of voluntary spirit.
MVU provide work camp project for young people to work with local
communities and create greater awareness
If one gives a pace others follow. When people join hands together and
with other actors in a community change takes place. Therefore the
field Operation office and its action troops are determined to render
the best possible operations and services.
There’s much work to do and certain changes must be made. The
departments and their troops in the field operation at times move
shoulder to shoulder for extensive correspondence and response.
MVU works towards ensuring every young person has the opportunity to
volunteer and make a positive difference in their community and beyond,
through having the access to relevant Volunteers opportunities and
receiving effective support .MVU aims at promoting young peoples
activeness and to make concerns of local people into consideration.
Volunteering is a unique opportunity to young people.
- It increases their skill knowledge and abilities.
- To understand and appreciate the diversity of our society and work in
partnership with communities for mutual benefit.
The people and projects that Young Volunteer groups are involved with
very enormously. The most popular work is within children and young
people, but they are many other projects that involve ex- offenders the
homeless people, People with the disabilities, Older people, Fund
raising and Animal care Agricultural projects, constructions,
Environmental conservation, Functional Adult literacy, Women groups,
Health education and solidarity projects.
Young people volunteer for a huge number of reasons.
- Through volunteering you be part reaching the millions in the un
reached territories s of the world
- If you don’t volunteer you will never expose your ability to other
people and cultures
- Volunteering is a part time mission which comfort the heart of the
distressed
- Holidays are special occasions take an extra meaning when shared with
your foreign friends
- We volunteer because we receive training and become qualified to do a
work. We return home as effective witness
- From wanting to make a difference
- To simply having fun and meet new people
- Reach out to those in need
- Learn skills and gain work experience
- Give back to the community
- Share your expertise
- Stay active and involved
- Make a different in the lives of others
- Expose your abilities and talent by trying new activities-
- However, Volunteers also gain extensive portfolio of skills and
experience which can be crucial after graduation.
Developing and recognizing skills such as communication, management,
problem solving, leadership and teamwork through volunteering not only
develops key skills but also enhances employability.
Young volunteers projects gives them a chance to make important
contributions to community in teaching medical, construction etc and to
experience the country and its cultures.
We believe that today we have a group of young people who can do much
if they are properly directed and encouraged. We want them to act a
part in well-organised plans for helping other youths. Let all be
trained that they may rightly represent their communities, country and
their organisation giving the reason of hope that is within them, and
honouring God in any branch of work where they are qualified to labour.
We approve the movement to organise our young people for more effectual
voluntary work and we recommend that more representatives be appointed
in our communities, Districts and country to form youth groups.
Young men and women let us unite together upon some plans and order of
action.
