Clean Water Projects achieved by using simple hand and locally made tools [Percussion drilling and Auger methods]

"Unsafe water leads to diarrhea, which kills the equivalent of 20 fully loaded jumbo jets crashing every day. In the last ten years, this has killed more children than all the armed conflicts since WWII combined." - 2005 Commission on Human Rights

“One of the leading killers of African children could be stopped for only £12.5 per child per month”

Contaminated water kills significantly more African children than bullets and AIDS combined. Most will die from the wasting effects of simple diarrhea, and most will be little girls and boys under the age of five.

Lack of access to safe water also enslaves African women and young girls. It is not unusual for a mother or daughter to spend six hours a day or more making long treks to fetch and carry water. Many young girls miss school as a result, cutting off their hope for a more productive future. Moreover, the water source is typically shared with animals and crawling with disease-carrying parasites.

Contributing to a clean water project is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to make a difference for African children and their families:
  • A well for a village of 1,200 people costs an average of £2,000 and will last for at least 20 years. That works out to about a penny a month to provide clean, life-saving water to thousands of people over a 20-year period.
  • A small storage tank that will serve 8 families costs approximately £200 and will last 20-30 years.

Funding a clean water project for a village or school makes a wonderful fund-raising project. It's a manageable, defined goal (£200 for a storage tank; £2,000 for a well), is easy to explain and market, and produces dramatic and quantifiable results that every contributor can take pride in. They will literally be saving lives for the next 20 years. We will even put a plaque on the well or tank celebrating the donors' contribution and partnership.

Testimonials from our Clean Water Projects in Jinja,Uganda.

People in the developed world  take for granted the easy and abundant access they have to clean water.  It's a whole different thing, however, if you're used to spending up to six hours a day fetching water for drinking and washing - and then ending up sick from the parasites in the water you worked so hard to get.  That's a daily reality for millions of African families.
If you have invested in one of our clean water projects in Jinja-Uganda, there are some very happy people who want to say THANK YOU!  And if you haven't yet participated in one of these projects, perhaps you will change your mind when you read what a life-saving difference your gift can make.
"The water we used to drink before was very dirty, and even rats would fall into that borehole! We had to use a lot of energy before we could fill four containers. Now, we are using less than ten minutes to fill those containers! We are no longer afraid to drink the water as we were before."

"Before you helped us with this water project, we had to fetch water that was contaminated and had snails and lizards swimming in it! We are very happy because you saved our lives. We no longer worry about typhoid and other deadly diseases. Thank You!"
